Frequently asked questions

Specifically for researchers

Which export formats do you support for qualitative analysis?
We export to Word (.docx), PDF, plain text (.txt) and CSV with columns for timestamp, speaker and utterance. That imports straight into NVivo, Atlas.ti, MAXQDA or a spreadsheet for manual coding.
Can I use this under GDPR and my institution’s ethics guidelines?
Yes — servers are in the EU, your data is never used for model training, and you can delete the audio immediately after transcription. We do recommend listing the tool explicitly in your informed consent and data management plan. A Data Processing Agreement (DPA) is available on request.
How do you handle respondent anonymisation?
In the editor you can rename speaker labels to codes (R1, R2, P3-female-40-50) and highlight or redact specific passages. You can also replace full names with search-and-replace before exporting.
Can I upload large files of several hours?
On Pro and Pro+ plans you can process recordings of several hours in one go. For exceptionally long recordings it sometimes makes sense to upload in segments — it keeps feedback per fragment more manageable.
Does speaker recognition work in focus groups with overlap?
Automatic diarization separates up to ~10 speakers. With heavy overlap some correction is sometimes needed, but you get a solid baseline. Renaming labels (P1 → “Female 35–45”) takes seconds.
